Most types of meditation involve paying attention to your mind, then gently bringing your attention back to a chosen focal point if your mind wanders. The focal point itself varies from meditation to meditation. What you focus on can make a big difference on your meditation experience. A meditation exercise can be as simple as doing some deep breathing, or as complex as repeating a mantra or doing Transcendental meditation. Any activity that helps to quiet the mind could be considered a meditative activity, even sitting outside and quietly watching the world go by.
